ForestHillsConnection.com will sport a new look sometime in the next week or so, but we’re not changing things up for the aesthetics.
Our current WordPress theme (essentially the framework for the website) is no longer supported by its creator, which opens us up to glitches and security vulnerabilities.
In other words, this upgrade is mandatory. And to keep us up and running, we appreciate your donations.
Since Forest Hills Connection launched in 2012, we’ve hired out the tech know-how to Van Studios, which has constructed websites for many local individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations. (If you’re interested in their services, get in touch with niki@van-studios.com.)
The upgrade is a one-time expense. However, we also have year-round costs, including storing our archive of neighborhood news and history (14 years of stuff!) and keeping FHC.com secure.
Since we are an editorially independent partner of Van Ness Main Street, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, donations are tax deductible.
It’s not just the financial support that has sustained us over the years — it’s the time you’ve spent reading, commenting and in many cases contributing your words to our little publication.
In the beginning, we set out in search of others who shared our curiosity about the neighborhood and our neighbors, and shared our desire to build an online community that would strengthen our connections with the real thing.
We think we have succeeded, and we thank you.
