On Sept. 12, celebrate the arts and local businesses on our Main Street. Art All Night is returning to Van Ness Main Street, so from 2 to 9 p.m. there will be performances, pop-up shops and other activities all along Connecticut Avenue, and pedicabs tying them all together.
Events include a gelato giveaway at Sfoglina Van Ness, mural painting at the former Burger King, face painting at Politics and Prose, and live music at several restaurants. View the full schedule and register to be notified of updates on Eventbrite.
Van Ness Main Street is seeking volunteers to staff some of the events and assist with the set up and cleanup. High school juniors and seniors can earn community service hours. Sign up here or contact gloria@vannessmainstreet.org to let them know how and when you can help out.
Party with Emily, Charlotte and Anne. District Fringe may have come and gone, but theatrical performances continue at the Van Ness Main Street office at 4340 Connecticut Avenue for another few weeks.
Brontë Sister House Party is set in Purgatory, and the sisters must throw a party night after night until they throw the “best house party” and can advance to the next stage of the afterlife.
And let’s just say this is not a bare bones set:
The play was written by Courtney Bailey, directed by Kathleen Barth, and produced by Nu Sass Productions. Performances are Thursday through Monday until closing night, during Art All Night on Sept. 12.
The VNMS Good Clean Fun initiative is hosting a park cleanup on Saturday, Aug. 29. It’s from 10 a.m. until noon, and bags and gloves will be provided.
In their words:
All ages can pitch in, but kids younger than high school age should bring a grown up. High schoolers needing community service hours are welcome and should bring their forms.
