Where will Murch kids learn during construction? Dec. 17 meeting on swing space

The community’s invited to head over to Murch Elementary this Thursday evening for an update on the school’s upcoming renovation and construction project. On December 17th at 6 p.m., DC Public Schools and the District Department of General Services will go over the search for a “swing space” where students will learn and play during the two-year project.

DCPS and DGS mentioned three potential locations during their most recent presentation (PDF) for the Murch School Improvement Team: In trailers on Murch grounds; split between Murch and Capital Memorial Church/Forest Hills Park; and at UDC. Over the past couple of days, the Chevy Chase listserv has lit up with the possibility of a fourth potential swing space: The trailers at Lafayette Elementary. Those are being used as a swing space for Lafayette’s renovation.
