Recycle your leftover house paint and stains this Saturday at Howard Law

They’re taking up space in the back of a utility closet, or in your basement or garage: stacks of half- or a quarter-full paint cans.

Well, here’s your chance to get rid of them safely and free up that storage space – at no cost to you. This Saturday, July 28th, take your old paint to the Howard University School of Law at 2727 Van Ness Street between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

PaintCare is the organization that will take it off your hands when you arrive. It’s a nonprofit created by paint manufacturers and funded by fees you likely paid if you purchased your paint in the District of Columbia. PaintCare periodically sets up temporary paint recycling drop-off sites in DC and other states where it operates. Some DC paint stores also serve as year-round drop-off locations.

This program is for DC residents and businesses only, so be prepared to show an ID or other proof of residency. Visit paintcare.org/howard for information on the types of paint that will and will not be accepted.
