Rain delays Forest Hills Playground’s Halloween “spooktacular” – Now Nov. 1

This was the cancelled Halloween party at Forest Hills Playground.

As one dad said, if the cancelled party turned out this great, just imagine just how spectacular the actual party will be, on its new please-don’t-rain-again date and time!

Join Friends of Forest Hills Playground Sunday, November 1st from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a magic show, crafts, costume parade around the playground, play time and bake sale fundraiser.

Come to the dark side. We have cookies. (Yes, really.)

Our entertainment, Abracadabra Alex, has graciously agreed to reschedule. And so has the Armand’s Pizza truck.

Plan to grab a slice, or if you think your family will eat more, Armand’s will take your pre-orders for a whole pie until 6 p.m. on October 31st. Email Ron at ronco1954@aol.com with your name, pizza choice, and deep dish OR thin crust for each:
* Cheese $15
* Spinach $17
* Pepperoni $17

Bring cash or check made out to Armand’s to the party for payment. Armand’s is generously donating 25% of sales to the playground. Money raised will be used to pay for things like musicians at our summer concerts, magicians at our Halloween parties, new sand for the sand box, etc.

And YOU can help by bringing a treat to sell at the bake sale, helping with set-up and clean-up, or a few other easy tasks. You can sign up here.

Friends of Forest Hills Playground, the group that organizes this party every year, agonized over cancelling the October 25th party. It was still raining steadily just one-half hour before the party was set to begin. So of course, at the appointed time – the rain stopped.

And then people started coming. The cancelled party became an impromptu party. While the kids played, neighbors chatted and enjoyed the cookies, cupcakes and muffins brought by… more neighbors.

They also filled the donation jar. Leftover goodies went to Forest Hills of DC, the senior living home just a few blocks north.

Thanks to all who made our “cancelled” party so much fun – and to all who have promised to do this again on November 1st at Forest Hills Playground’s Halloween Spooktacular 2.0!
