The Soapstone Valley Trail is back, and so are the volunteers who maintain it for the many hikers and dog walkers who enjoy the park.
The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club’s Rock Creek Crew returned on Saturday, October 19th, to perform much-needed maintenance.
“We reinstalled trail signs,” the Rock Creek PATC said on Facebook.
“…replaced steps…”
“…put in erosion control, cleared blowdowns and fixed a short footbridge by replacing the decking.”
This was the Rock Creek PATC’s first work visit since the trail was closed in March 2022 for DC Water’s Soapstone sewer project. Most of the trail reopened in August.
