Mary Peckiconis is a Clarence House resident and a passionate knitter and crocheter who is spreading the joy of craft to northwest DC residents. Mary leads the Upper NW Knitters group at the Tenley Library.
“I launched the group April 2011 because I like to knit and teach others to knit,” she says.
Mary welcomes all comers. She has consistently hosted 10 to 20 happy crafters. “Last summer, we had some children as their bedtime is extended in the summer,” Mary says.
New to knitting and crocheting and want to try it before you invest in equipment? “I bring all the supplies. That way if someone doesn’t like knitting, they aren’t out any money,” Mary says. “And I have plenty of supplies from a lifetime of knitting.”
This free community gathering occurs twice a month, on Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 7 to 9 p.m.
