Dry conditions make trees thirsty too (Please water them!)

Young street trees usually have a slow-release watering bag you can fill with a hose.

It’s not supposed to be 98 degrees in October. But that was the official high on Tuesday, October 2nd.

When we spend time outdoors in this kind of heat, we’re advised to stay hydrated. This is also true of trees. Whether young or established, they could all use a long drink from a garden hose.

We mentioned Casey Trees and its weekly watering alerts in our October 2nd article on protecting our city’s shade trees. Because of the heat and the extended period of dry conditions, Casey Trees is continuing its watering alerts through October.

Reminder: Property owners are responsible for watering street trees. And if you live in an apartment or condo, you can ask your building manager to make sure the trees are watered.
