April 23rd Special Election: Early Voting Begins

Yes, here I am again haranguing you to go vote. This is a special election to fill the seat left vacant when Councilmember Phil Mendelson was elected Chair of the Council.

But beyond this, you can vote on a very important amendment to the DC charter to give us control of our own budget. See Daniel Solomon’s article about how how this amendment frees us from the vagaries of Congress and its budget process.

There are six candidates running for the at-large Council seat:

Can’t vote on the 23rd? You can request an absentee ballot, but you need to get your request in by April 17th.

One Judiciary Square is the only center open for early voting, today through April 20th, 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. This is right outside the south exit to the Judiciary Square Metro stop. It will be closed April 14th and 16th.

Voters waiting until Tuesday, April 23rd can confirm their polling place at dcboee.org/voter_info/find_pollingplace. The polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
