They’re back. ANC 3F returns from its August break to its regularly scheduled meetings on the third Tuesday of the month. And the commission’s next meeting, on September 16th, is the first one in a long time without DC Water and the Soapstone Valley sewer project on the agenda.
Not that the project is complete, mind you, but according to the latest update from DC Water, the agency is targeting a late October end date. What that means is that by the ANC’s October meeting, DC Water believes that the final sewer segment will be lined with special materials to prevent sewage leaks. A new manhole will fill what is currently a large and deep hole in Albemarle Street. And Albemarle east of Connecticut Avenue will be rebuilt, repaved and reopened. And of course, all of these things will happen regardless of the final completion date.
What is on ANC 3F’s draft agenda (below): restoring the Muchas Gracias and Honey’s sidewalk cafes, the Reno Road and Warren Street pedestrian crossings, discussion of a Home Rule resolution and more. The agenda posted on ANC 3F’s website also has the DC Water update as an addendum, and a dispatch from Van Ness Main Street’s Good Clean Fun initiative about developments in its work to stay on top of Forest Hills Park’s maintenance and safety issues. (One longtime issue – tackled by the ANC as well – is a broken fence between the basketball and tennis courts. Good Clean Fun says it has been replaced.)
