ANC 3F asks: Do you support closing Van Ness Metro on weekends to speed escalator work?

Do you support closing the Van Ness Metro station on weekends if that would speed up work to replace four of the station’s escalators? ANC 3F wants to hear your opinion ahead of a special meeting next Tuesday, May 26th.

At this week’s regularly scheduled ANC meeting, WMATA’s lead escalators engineer told commissioners that his group would explore whether closing the station on weekends would reduce the project’s projected three-year length, but would only do so if the community supports it. The west entrance of the Van Ness station will be closed for much of that time so Metro’s contractors can use it to move heavy equipment in and out of the station.

What’s your take? Call ANC 3F at 202-670-7262 or email the commissioners at commissioners@anc3f.us

ANC 3F will also discuss and vote on matters that came up during the May 19th meeting. These are:

  • A request for a letter of support for Friends of Forest Hills Playground to use the park for a concert series on the last Friday of June, July, August and September.
  • Interior renovations to Sedgwick Gardens Apartment House, 3726 Connecticut Avenue NW, HPRB Case 15-03 [Chairman Adam Tope notes that “public comment will be limited given the very lengthy discussions we have had on this issue during our last two meetings.”]
  • The May 26th special meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Forest Hills of DC (4901 Connecticut Avenue).

The meeting will also be streamed live and archived at livestream.anc3f.us.
