Chick-fil-A wants to set up shop in Van Ness next year – where the Burger King stands today. Chick-fil-A reps told the Tuesday, November 17th ANC 3F meeting (their presentation starts one hour, 13 minutes into the Livestream playback) the company’s plans would be in keeping with the “vision” our community has developed for Van Ness – a livelier, more walkable community. The drive-thru would stay, however.
Chick-fil-A is seeking two public space permits from DDOT. With Chick-fil-A in agreement, ANC 3F unanimously voted to ask DDOT to postpone consideration of the permits until its January 28th Public Space Committee hearing. Here is the text of the ANC resolution:
MOTION to request DDOT table consideration of permits 116016 and 10210960 until the January 28, 2016 Public Space Committee hearing (or earlier upon mutual agreement of the Applicant and ANC 3F), recognizing the ongoing discussions between the Applicant and ANC about pedestrian safety, traffic flow, and consistency with the Van Ness Vision, noting that postponement has been mutually agreed between ANC 3F and the Applicant, and stressing that the original notification to ANC 3F postmarked October 26, 2015 only gave the ANC 18 business to review the application before the scheduled November hearing date rather than the 30 business days required.
