Did you know that the greenery that grows (and grows and grows) along the 3100 block of Brandywine Street is part of Forest Hills Park?
Some of this vegetation is good for wildlife, but this stretch is chockablock with invasive species that are harmful to native plants and animals.
Van Ness Main Street’s Good Clean Fun initiative has worked with DC to schedule an invasive removal day on Saturday, November 8th, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The crew is limited to 15 people (adults only) and everyone will need to sign a waiver. Tools and training will be provided. Volunteers will learn about tool safety and how to identify and remove invasive plants and poison ivy. Bring: gloves (we will have extras), sunblock and bug spray if needed. Wear: sturdy, closed-toe shoes and long pants that you don’t mind getting dirty or snagged.
