Nature gave us quite a light show Wednesday evening. And an interactive one too. If you weren’t quick enough, you may have had to do some mopping up, as the wind drove the heavy rain sideways through open windows.

The storm’s impact could be seen on Thursday during a hike through Soapstone Valley from Broad Branch Road to Audubon Terrace.
There was storm debris on Broad Branch Road.
Downed branches blocked a culvert.
Broad Branch Stream jumped its bank and uprooted these plants.
The rush of stormwater rearranged the stepping stones at the first Soapstone Creek crossing off Broad Branch Road.
Here, at the third Soapstone crossing, a log that had been washed in by a previous storm was washed away.
Along the trail, at least, there were no downed trees. But nearby:
