Park Van Ness sidewalk reopens two years after construction began

Why are these ANC commissioners kicking up their heels?

Because they are standing (or leaping, in Mary Beth Ray’s case) on the new sidewalk at Park Van Ness. The sidewalk reopened the afternoon of Friday, March 4th, more than two years after Saul Centers and Clark Construction blocked it off to begin construction.

Now that the western entrance to the Van Ness Metro station is closed for the next couple of months, this sidewalk will save many pedestrians the time and hassle of crossing six lanes of Connecticut Avenue traffic on their way to and from the Metro. And it’s another sign the development is nearing completion. That means we’re getting closer to welcoming two of Park Van Ness’s new tenants: Sfolina and Soapstone Market.
