Looks like a lovely day for a jaunt to Peirce Mill – 1940 style.

Don’t fall over the fence, kids! The mill’s water wheel is just visible on the left side of the photo. Here’s a view from another angle.
It doesn’t look like water was turning the mill wheel when this photo was taken, but most 1940 visitors would have been treated to the sight of a working mill, something we get to enjoy today thanks to Friends of Peirce Mill and the National Park Service (here’s some history). The mill is running every second and fourth Saturday through October.
